Another New article for you from Fitness Elements! Crack the No-Forbidden Food Myth Code # 2

" Why You Should Use My Fat-Loss For Idiots Guide To Achieve Maximum Results!" Part 1

This will be Part 1 to a 3 part series of " Why You Should Use My Fat-Loss For Idiots Guide To Achieve Maximum Results!"

You are overweight for one of three reasons because one you're eating the wrong foods, two you're eating the wrong types of calories per meal, or three you're eating the wrong meals in the wrong meal frequency each day.

Think closely about what I'm about to tell you since it's going to change the way you think about dieting once and for all. At least that is my hopes for you in the long hall.

Food Is more powerful than you will ever know and it is more powerful than any prescription weight-loss pills, because the food that you eat can either work for you or agaist you. Let me repeat that food can either make you THIN or make you FAT. You don't get fat because of lack of exercising, thats a myth. You get fat because you don't eat the right foods at the right intervals each day.

Also, the pattern that you choose to eat your meals each day is more powerful than any presciption weight loss pills. This is true because Your body is like an engine and it only needs certain foods at certain intervals each day, and if you don't eat the right times your body won't utilize that fuel to burn those calories- and you will wind up storing those calories as fat tissue.

( Clue: You need to eat more than three meals per day to lose weight, but I'll talk to you more on the details later).

You have gotten over weight by eating the wrong foods at the wrong times in the wrong frequency. And guess what you can get SLIM by eating the RIGHT foods at the right times, in the right amounts, and right frequency each day.

I'ts not really any more complicated than that , and the way to start losing weight has nothing to do with starving yourself or jogging 2 hours a day.

The reason You cannot lose weight by starving your body ( using a low calorie diet) is because your metabolism will detect any major drop in calories and it will then adjust itself by burning fewer and fewer calories each day.

Let this be your first part of this 3 part series " Why You Should Use My Fat Loss For Idiots Guide To Maximize Your Results!" Let this sink in your mind and be a lesson to you of what not to do. Now, Stop Dieting and start thinking more about Intelligible Eating and Exercise. Thats another series altogether that I will be writing about so stay tuned for Part 2 and by for now.

10 Top Secrets of Portion Control from Fitness Elements!

10 Top Secrets of Portion Control

So many invisible factors cause us to eat more than we want. Here, easy-to-remember tips for becoming "portion aware."

  1. Before Eating, Divide The Plate
Here’s a simple rule to portion a plate properly: Divide it in half. Automatically fill one side with fruits or vegetables, leaving the rest for equal parts protein and starch. This way, you begin to see what a properly balanced meal looks like. Spaghetti and meatballs? Steak and potatoes? They’re only half a meal, incomplete without fruits and vegetables.
  2. Pre-Portion Tempting Treats
The bigger the package, the more food you’ll pour out of it. When two groups were given half- or 1-pound bags of M&Ms to eat while watching TV, those given the 1-pound bag ate nearly twice as much.
  3. Head Off The Mindless Munch
Five minutes after eating at an Italian restaurant, 31 percent of people couldn’t remember how much bread they ate. If you’re worried you might do the same, have the bread removed from the table.
  4. Downsize The Dishes
If you’re one of the 54 percent of Americans who eat until their plates are clean, make sure those plates are modestly sized. On a standard 8- to 10-inch dinner plate, a portion of spaghetti looks like a meal. On a 12- to 14-inch dinner plate, it looks meager, so you’re likely to dish out a bigger portion to fill the plate. When researchers gave study participants 34- or 17-ounce bowls and told them to help themselves to ice cream, those with the bigger bowls dished out 31 percent more ice cream.
  5. Limit Your Choices
The more options you have, the more you want to try. In one study, researchers gave two groups jellybeans to snack on while they watched a movie. One group got six colors, neatly divided into compartments; jellybeans for the other group were jumbled together. Those given a mix ate nearly two times more.
  6. Use Your Power For Good
Most homes have a “nutritional gatekeeper” who controls 72 percent of the food eaten by everyone else. The person who chooses food, buys it, and prepares it wields power. If that’s you, take advantage of it.
  7. Avoid A See-Food Diet
Office workers who kept candy in clear dishes on their desks dipped in for a sample 71 percent more often than those who kept their candy out of sight.
  8. Turn Off The Television
The Vast Wasteland leads to vast waists. It’s not just the couch-sitting. TV distracts you from how much you’re eating, and the more you watch, the more you’re likely to eat. In a study comparing how much popcorn viewers ate during either a half-hour show or an hour-long show, those who watched more television ate 28 percent more popcorn.
  9. Think Before You Drink
Pour cranberry juice into two glasses of equal volume: one short and wide, the other tall and thin. Most people pour 19 percent more cranberry juice in the short glass because the eye is a poor judge of volume in relation to height and width.
  10. Serve Good-For-You Foods Family-Style
Not all portion-control strategies are about eating less. You can have as much as you want of some foods. Place the foods you want your family to eat more of―salads and vegetable sides―within easy reach on the dining table. In a soon-to-be-published study, Wansink found people who kept baby carrots in plain sight ate 25 percent more during a day.

Whole Wheat Bread Month is Here!

Herbed Bread-Stuffed Tomatoes For You!

Look for "100 percent whole wheat" or "100 percent whole grain" on the label. The bread and tomatoes in this recipe supply about 20 percent of the day's fiber, while the touch of sharp Parmesan boosts a serving to provide 10 percent of daily calcium needs.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 3 tomato halves)

Ingredients

  • 6 ripe firm plum tomatoes (about 1 1/2 pounds), cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces whole wheat bread (about 2 slices), toasted and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh basil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons grated fresh Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°.

Scoop pulp and seeds from tomato halves into a sieve over a bowl; press with a spoon. Reserve 1/4 cup liquid in bowl. Discard pulp mixture.

Place tomato halves, cut sides up, in an 11 x 7-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Place bread in a bowl; drizzle with tomato liquid. Stir in remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt, basil, oil, oregano, thyme, and garlic. Fill tomato halves with bread stuffing, pressing gently. Sprinkle each with 1/2 teaspoon cheese. Bake at 375° for 12 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

New Years Buffet Solution for You from Fitness Elements!

Skip the big, blow-out New Year's Eve party this year, opt out of the frenzy, and start the year in a more intimate fashion with a close group of friends and family. You can pay homage to this special night by sending invitations encouraging your guests to dress elegantly, and, of course, by toasting the occasion with plenty of Champagne.

Choose a selection of buffet appetizers like the Cherry Chutney Cheese Torte and little Roast Pork Sandwiches. As the party progresses, bring out different hot hors d'oeuvres. This helps to keep the party lively and your guests well fed throughout the evening as they nibble stuffed mushrooms, salmon skewers, and other tidbits. These mostly make-ahead dishes allow you to relax and enjoy the fun, too. Each recipe makes at least 12 servings, so you can mix and match dishes to suit the size of your party. For the perfect celebratory piece de resistance, serve the Chocolate Fondue at midnight. It is blissful paired with a glass of bubbly.

P.S. Try the lower calorie Roast Pork Sandwiches as a great News Years Eve party food solution! Happy New Year's my Health & Fitness friends! Be safe and have lots of fun!

Amazing Amaretto!

Gifts From the Kitchen of Fitness Elements!

Package these crunchy cookies in a gift box with a pound of your favorite coffee beans. Look for almond paste on your supermarket's baking aisle, and for best results, don't substitute marzipan, which is sweeter and more finely textured, in place of the paste.

Yield: 40 cookies (serving size: 1 cookie)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (7-ounce) package almond paste
  • 1 teaspoon amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°.

Place granulated sugar and almond paste in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until almond paste is broken into small pieces. Add amaretto and egg whites; beat on high speed 4 minutes or until smooth. Chill batter for 20 minutes.

Drop batter by teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Sprinkle evenly with turbinado sugar. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until edges of cookies are golden brown. Cool completely on pans; carefully remove cookies from parchment. Cool on wire racks.

Overnight Caramel French Toast for Your Holiday Brunch from Fitness Elements!

"This is one of my favorite holiday brunch dishes because it can be prepared the night before and popped in the oven to bake the next morning. Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light-colored corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine first 3 ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until mixture is bubbly, stirring constantly. Pour mixture evenly into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.

Arrange bread slices in a single layer over syrup in dish.

Combine milk and next 4 ingredients (through eggs) in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Pour egg mixture over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

Wine and Spirits Healthy Holiday Tips!

Wine and Spirits

Health benefits: In moderation, alcoholic beverages can help reduce cholesterol, maintain healthful blood pressure levels, and control arterial inflammation. Red wine contains varying amounts of resveratrol, an antioxidant from grape skins that can help reduce blood clotting by decreasing platelet aggregation.
Latest research: There’s no doubt that drinking to excess harms the liver. But a recent study reports that modest consumption may help prevent the most common liver disease in the United States, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). In the study, those who consumed one glass of wine a day reduced the risk of NAFLD by 50 percent.
How much to enjoy: One serving per day for women, up to two for men. One serving of alcohol is one 4- to 6-ounce glass of wine, one 12-ounce beer, or 1 ounce of alcohol (liquor such as gin, vodka, whiskey, or the like).

Tip: From Your Nutrition Expert Natalie Pyles Alcohol is its own calorie category Now being 7 calories. Calories do count remember input versus output!

Example: Fat 9 grams, carbs 4 grams, protein 4 grams, and alcohol 7 grams I hope this helps you my health and fitness friends!

Are You looking for Healthful Holiday treats with Benefits?

Holiday Treats with Health Benefits

Nuts

Health benefits: Mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids―the types of fats that have been linked to heart-health benefits. All nuts contain quality protein and fiber, and are excellent sources of vitamin E, folate, and magnesium. English walnuts are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids that may help reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease by decreasing arterial inflammation.
Latest research: People who eat nuts often have lower risk of heart disease. One study shows that eating a small handful (about 11/2 ounces) of macadamia nuts daily helped reduce total cholesterol by 9.4 percent and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol by 8.9 percent. Macadamia nuts are higher in monounsaturated fats than other tree nuts. These fats play an important role in regulating cholesterol and keeping levels optimal.
How much to enjoy: 1 to 11/2 ounces, or roughly 1/4 to 1/3 cup. Eat enough to cover the palm of your hand.

I hope these Healthful Holiday tips help You!

Looking for the Ultimate Holiday Weight Gaining Tips?

How to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

Enjoy festive meals without gaining a single pound. The MyRecipes registered dietitians share their best strategies for navigating the holiday dinner table.
How to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

Putting on a few pounds after a round of holiday meals is not inevitable if you use a few of these simple eating strategies.

• Don't skip breakfast. If you starve yourself all day in anticipation of the big meal, you're more likely to overeat and feel uncomfortable. You might want to eat a lighter breakfast than normal, but don't skip it.

• If you're asked to contribute to the meal, bring a low-fat or low-calorie dish that you know you can enjoy without guilt. Fresh veggies and dips, fresh fruit, low-calorie casseroles or low-fat fruit desserts are always good options.

• Drink as much water as you can before and during the meal.

• Replace pre-meal nibbling by sipping water or a low-calorie beverage and munching on fresh veggies and healthy dip.

• Get at the end of the line if the meal is being served buffet-style. That will give you less time to go back for seconds.

• Fill up your plate with low-fat items such as white meat turkey, roasted vegetables, green salads, and either fresh fruit or a fruit dessert.

• Go easy on the veggies covered in cheese and breadcrumbs.

• Select a whole grain roll if they're available and leave off the butter.

• Use a salad plate instead of a large dinner plate to help with portion control.

• Keep healthy proportions in mind as you fill your plate: One half of your plate should be vegetables, one fourth protein, and one fourth carbohydrate.

• Keep up with the calories you drink. One 5-ounce glass of white wine has about 145 calories.

• Finish your meal with a cup of hot tea or coffee. While you're sipping, you'll have time to receive the signal from your body that it's full.

• Practice saying, ''No, thank you. I've had plenty.'' And mean it.

• Excuse yourself from the table after the meal so you won't be tempted to keep nibbling. If possible, go outside and take a brisk walk.

• Volunteer for a clean-up chore that is away from the kitchen so you won't be tempted to keep eating.
