'Amazing New KRANKCYCLEFITNESS'

The many benefits of Kranking

Improves Cardiovascular fitness
Although it is not yet common knowledge, upper-body rotational exercise can dramatically improve the CV system, even while using significantly less muscle mass than traditional CV exercise. Studies have determined that arm cranking elicits increases in VO2 max, cardiac output, ventilatory threshold, and blood lactate responses similar to those observed during leg exercise. In some arm-trained subjects, such as rowers, cross-country skiers, and swimmers, the arm VO2 max approached and even surpassed the leg value.

Provides Cardiovascular Transfer Benefits
Studies show that the CV benefits obtained from arm cranking confer both central and peripheral benefits. The ability to maintain central cardiovascular fitness by Kranking will enable lower-body exercise enthusiasts who become injured to retain their fitness while healing. As a result, when they return to their activity of choice, they will not have experienced a total reversal of training adaptations.

Provides Effective Cross Training
The benefit-transfer phenomenon also provides tremendous cross-training benefits when individuals need to give their primary muscles a rest. Current cross-training methods typically use the primary muscles that need recovery, but in a different modality (e.g., cycling for running). Kranking will likely become the most popular form of indoor cross-training for the general fitness enthusiast. This is because it is engaging enough to encourage hard training that maintains central cardiovascular adaptations while also providing complete rest for the primary muscles used in most activities.

Improves Upper-Body Strength
One of the most exciting contributions that Kranking will make lies in its impact on upper-body strength training for individuals who do not like, or have time for, traditional weight training. Studies have demonstrated significant increases in upper-body hypertrophy and tonality and decreases in skin-fold thickness after just 6 weeks of arm cranking. This is possible through short intervals performed at high intensity with limited recovery, which forces the development of larger, Type II (fast-twitch) muscle fibers. Even more exciting is that muscular changes in the upper body during arm cranking have been reported even with endurance training, presumably as a result of the low level of conditioning that these muscles have in the average person. Continued...

The many benefits of Kranking Continued

Improves Core Strength
Upper-body rotational exercise on a Krankcycle is a complex series of movements performed in a coordinated fashion and reinforced by the activation of core muscles to stabilize the body. The benefit of this activation lies in the reinforcement and strengthening of those muscles, which make it easier to recruit larger muscles and, in turn, increase the cardio effect.

Provides Integrated Movement and Functional Benefits
Independent Krankarms are the most important innovation of the Krankcycle. Each arm can drive the Krankcycle, but one arm cannot assist the other. The additional muscular recruitment necessary for maintaining synchronization between the Krankarms forces the use of ALL of the muscles of the upper body, as well as many core muscles, in a balanced and coordinated way. This facilitates neuromuscular changes that, in turn, balance the muscle and improve form and efficiency

Promotes Weight Management
Kranking provides a tool and a training program that are fun. It will encourage people to train their upper bodies to adapt them for endurance and enhanced O2 consumption. This training will lead to an increased ability to burn calories with the upper body. It will also provide another set of limbs with which to maintain a maximum level of caloric burn during a single training session. The ability to hypertrophy the working muscle (see Strength Benefits) yields an increased at-rest metabolic rate and caloric burn. In addition, dynamic exercise protocols demonstrated by our Master Trainers will elicit a greater post-exercise VO2 (and caloric burn) after exercise ends.

Improves Selected Sports Performance
Kranking provides exciting, indoor upper-body CV conditioning that can be done in groups as primary exercise for upper-body athletes including swimmers, triathletes, kayakers, paddlers, surfers, canoeists, grinders, boxers and hand cyclists. Currently, no convenient system of indoor, upper-body conditioning exists for these athletes. Kranking provides CV conditioning for their performance muscles, upper-body strength, and core training, and also functionally balances both sides of the body.

'New Pilates 4 Weight-loss'

Converting the “Non-Believer”

While the popularity of mainstream Pilates continues to increase, there are still people who view the stated benefits of Pilates with a degree of skepticism – especially in terms of integrating Pilates into their training or workout regimen. Are they missing out? Absolutely!

Dear Friends,

We’ve all encountered them – people, often those with a particular focus in mind such as weight loss, toning or building muscle mass, who think that Pilates will not help them achieve their goals. Additionally, people used to high-adrenalin classes or activities may feel that Pilates does not offer enough of a challenge. Regardless of the reason for not trying Pilates, these potential clients are missing out. Why? Because Pilates can help improve performance, reduce injury, and relieve stress. The challenge is getting them to give it a try. Our first page shares some key points to remember when discussing Pilates with a potential client. We hope you find this information helpful. Check back often for educational content, programming inspiration, fitness tips and more.

Here are some key points to remember when discussing Pilates with a potential client:

1. Mass Appeal
Regardless of the fitness level of a client, Pilates offers something for everyone – sports fanatics looking to build core strength and improve their golf drive; elite athletes who want to prevent or attend to injuries; rehab and prenatal clients who want to enhance their fitness ability; new moms who want to get their pre-baby shape back; or mature adults who simply want to make getting out of bed easier. Every exerciser can reap the benefits of this form of exercise – and get a good workout at the same time.

2. Real Men do Pilates
Some of your male clients may think that Pilates is only a woman's workout – it’s not. The reason why so many elite athletes are incorporating Pilates into their training regimens today is because this method of exercise has evolved over time and is now focusing on the modern day biomechanics of the body bolstered by essential scientific research. More and more men are finding that by incorporating Pilates into their exercise and athletic regiment they have experienced increased flexibility, power, strength and mobility.

3. Pilates Incorporates Key Performance Factors
Many people know that Pilates helps build strong, healthy muscles, improves blood flow, and engages all the muscles at the right time. What they might not know is that Pilates also addresses all seven of the key performance factors cited by experts as having great significance in terms of contributing to an athlete’s overall conditioning and rehabilitation exercise and sport-related injuries. What are these factors? Posture, balance, mobility / flexibility, stability, coordination, functional strength and endurance.

4. Athlete’s Choice – Pilates!
Athletes in a variety of sports have discovered the benefit of integrating Pilates into their training and exercise regiment. In addition to helping athletes develop core strength and increase flexibility, Pilates creates balance throughout the entire body. Many sports are one-sided and create muscle imbalances throughout the body. Pilates can help address these imbalances and create more symmetry overall. Pilates has been utilized for rehabilitation after injury for many years and continues to be an important factor in injury prevention and recovery. As a result, athletes can withstand rigorous training regimes and ultimately improve their golf drive or baseball pitch, as well as maintain an optimal weight for their sport or activity of choice.

Nine Tips Teens Can Apply To Their Weight-Loss Strategies

Nine Tips Teens Can Apply To Their Weight-Loss Strategies

Q. I am an overweight teenager. I have no idea how to go about dieting. Do you have any tips?

A. Figuring out a strategy for losing weight is a great first step! I have several tips for you that not only will help you lose weight, but help you to keep the weight off for a lifetime.
1. Forget blame and guilt: It is important for you to make sure that you don't blame anyone -- either yourself or your parents -- for where you are right now. Feeling guilty about your appearance is a negative feeling that won't help.
2. Take the long term approach: Look at what you are about to undertake not as a short term, quick, weight loss, but rather a change in lifestyle to last a lifetime. You will begin to make more nutritious food choices, add exercise, and cut back somewhat on your eating. If you falter along the way, you don't need to look at it as a failure because you know that you have a long time to make the changes. For example, if you go with your friends to eat at a fast food restaurant, and you indulge in a large order of fries, there is no need to feel guilty because you know that eating them is not a regular habit, and that at the next meal you will eat more sensibly.
3. Set reasonable goals: Losing one-half to one pound per week is very realistic. Don't drop your calorie intake to below 1,300 calories because it would be hard to get all the important nutrition that you need in less than that, plus, you probably won't feel satisfied.
4. Add daily exercise: I suspect that you may be caught in a vicious cycle of not exercising, eating and not having energy. Exercising actually makes you feel more energetic once you have made a habit of it. If you don't feel like you have energy to exercise now, start out with some physical activity that will get you moving, but won't require a lot energy. How about taking the dog for a walk? Or, if you don't have a dog, take the neighbor's dog for a walk. Once you have done some walking, every day for a couple of weeks, try running for a short distance. Get out on your bicycle, or roller blades, or shoot some baskets in the driveway. If you are at a loss for exercise ideas, speak to your gym teacher. I'll bet they would love to help you out. Most teachers are thrilled with kids that are self-motivated to improve.

5. Enlist the support of your family: Have a serious talk with your parents and ask them to help. They should be able to help you find materials on nutritious eating, and can help purchase the foods that will help, such as fresh fruits for snacks and whole grain cereals for breakfast. And they can avoid purchasing foods that will tempt you with poor choices, such as sodas, chips, candy, donuts or cookies.
6. Find measures of success besides weight loss: This isn't just about losing weight, it's about getting healthier for good. So, don't measure your success merely on how much weight you lose. Other things you can look at (for example) may be the amount of time you spent being physically active and not watching television, an increase in endurance (for example, biking for a longer distance or jogging for a longer period of time), or a week of making nutritious snack choices (for example, after school you picked a yogurt fruit smoothie instead of cookies and a soda).
7. Block out cultural messages that emphasize being thin: Decide not to focus on the television shows with actresses or actors that are too thin, as well as fashion magazines with overly thin models. In the real world, most people don't look like that. In fact, it is hard to look like a model and still get the appropriate nutrition from an adequate amount of food. Instead, take a look at high school and college athletes. Most of them are muscular, full bodied and brimming over with good health! You don't have to be a full fledged athlete to look or feel that way, but once you have developed an active lifestyle and good eating habits , you will.
8. Schedule a visit with your health-care provider: If you think your energy level is unusually low, have your mom or dad call the doctor. It may be that some health problem is contributing to how you feel.
9. Find your motivation from within: Weight loss won't happen unless the desire comes from inside you. No amount of outside pressure will do the job.
Good luck to you and have fun developing a happy and healthy lifestyle.

'How To Protect Your Child From Childhood Obesity'

'How To Protect Your Child From Childhood Obesity'

Definition OF Childhood Obesity

Do you know when to be concerned about your child's weight? Of course, all children gain weight as they grow older. But extra pounds — more than what's needed to support their growth and development — can lead to childhood obesity.

Childhood obesity is a serious medical condition that affects children and adolescents. It occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height. Childhood obesity is particularly troubling because the extra pounds often start kids on the path to health problems that were once confined to adults, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

One of the best strategies to combat excess weight in your child is to improve the diet and exercise levels of your entire family. This helps protect the health of your child now and in the future. Keep these facts in mind and always be proactive so you don't have to worry about your child suffering from obesity. Have a healthy and happy day!

Who Else Wants A Red Hot Body?

5 Ways To Cause Action And Results Through Weight Training
And How To Burn More Body Fat
You think cardio burns more fat? Think again!

Forwarded By, Natalie Pyles

How many times have YOU seen it?

You walk into a gym and you see hundreds of cardio machines. New machines every week, so it seems. You see the "cardio bunnies" on these devices that peddle, walk and stair-climb you to nowhere. Men, women, even kids.

Every single one of these folks wanting the same thing as you: To burn off unwanted body fat.

If you pay attention, you also notice that very few of these hard-working gym-goers ever change their body! They look the same week after week, year after year.

There's 5 key reasons for this, but the main reason is simply this: Cardio does not burn fat nearly as fast or as efficiently as weight training!

If you do not believe me, you will after you read this article. Here we go....

Fact 1:
Weight training done correctly reduces dangerous belly fat faster than cardio.

Weight training done at a rapid pace with sufficient resistance releases a tremendous amount of fatty acids into the bloodstream and decreases insulin resistance. Both cardio and weights get this job done equally well... BUT weight training increases lean body mass which has a direct effect on reversing insulin disorders. (Cuff et. al, 2003) The area most affected is called truncal obesity—or "ugly belly fat" for the rest of us. Yes... weight training reduces belly fat (when done correctly) faster than cardio. And lets face it: Most of us want a better midsection. It's not only sexier, it's more healthy too.

Fact 2:
Weight training releases free fatty acids that can be used up by moderate cardio AFTER the session.

Want to burn a lot more body fat? Weight train the way I suggest on the next page... then hit some moderate cardio. Burn off those fatty acids that weight training releases. Those fatty acids mostly come from your belly fat, arm fat, thighs, butt... all the places you love to hate. Do it the way I suggest on the following page and you can burn that fat off faster than ever.

Fact 3:
Weight training produces a by-product that burns fat.

You know that burning feeling you experience when you lift weights? It is caused by lactic acid. Weight training produces about 300% more lactic acid than cardio training for obvious reasons—you are using more muscle. If you Google the subject you'll find MOST trainers telling you to avoid lactic acid build-up by training with "light weights". Nonsense! Lactic acid has now been linked to the most powerful fat-burning hormone there is: hGH. The American Society of Exercise Physiologists reported that increased lactic acid was linked to increased natural production of fat-burning hGH. If you train the way I suggest on the following page you'll get just enough lactic acid release to do the trick.

First Name:
Email:

Fact 4:
Weight training increases all key metabolic hormones.

From hGH to testosterone to leptin to thyroid—all are increased naturally through resistance training. Cardio exercise cannot even begin to compete with the hormonal changes weight training can give you. Part of this is due to the explosive nature of resistance training. The method of weight training I recommend is safe, great for fat loss and shaping the body, and works for both men and women. And it is explosive. That triggers the hormones we want to melt off that body fat and literally turn back your biological clock 10, 15 even 20 years.

Fact 5:
Weight training gives you the BODY you want, not just the condition you want.

Do you want better arms? A tight waistline? A better butt? How about a nicer chest, a shapely back, and great calves? Well say good-bye to a "cardio-only" approach to exercise. Cardio alone will NEVER give you the body you see in the magazines. That is the result of using weights carefully and specifically to literally sculpt your body like Michelangelo sculpted the statue of David.

"How To Incorporate Living the Love Principle"

I first learned of the Love Principle in Walter Russell’s one-year home study course. Simply stated, Russell teaches that the Love Principle is expressed as a balance of giving and regiving.

The concept of giving and regiving is beautifully depicted in nature. For example, grass grows in response to the love given from Mother Earth and Father Sun. The grass is given life, in which it experiences the love of physical existence. Grass growing on the African savanna also experiences this giving. From time to time, a zebra comes along and eats the grass, which may or may not terminate its physical life. To be eaten by the zebra is the grass’s chance for regiving; it contributes its life and love to the zebra, nourishing and energizing the animal’s life. The zebra, experiencing the same love from Mother Earth and Father Sun in the form of water via river, stream or pool and food from grass, is perpetually receiving its giving or love and enters into its natural regiving when, for example, a lion kills and eats it. The zebra now passes its giving, its love onto the lion. The lion, though not a grass eater, enjoyed the love of both Mother Earth and Father Sun that was offered the grass as bioaccumulation in the zebra, allowing it to express the gifts of “lion life” on the savanna. Being at the top of the food chain, much like the human being, the lion’s only real predator is Father Time. The lion comes to the end of its natural life and typically dies in its sleep. Upon death, the buzzards, other scavengers and microorganisms will ensure that the lion offers its fair share of regiving, completing what is referred to as the closed organic cycle or the wheel of life.

Through the process of living the Love Principle, each life form is afforded the opportunity to exist and experience the splendor of a life sympathetic with existence as that particular life form. Under the laws of nature, life forms never suffer from a lack of love as a giving, nor can they consciously evade its natural regiving or loving back. It is only as humans that we manage to break these principles.

Analyzing the Love Principle, one can see that there is no waste and that all life and all forms of life are bound by love in a codependent relationship. Yet, when we come to human life and human behavior, we see over and over again a perpetual consumption or taking from Mother Nature. Humans consume Her love, yet at the same time humanity at large is negligent in its regiving. For example, we farm for commercial gain, literally strip mining the soils and turning what was once arable land into deserts where a fraction of the previous life can now exist. We dump billions of gallons of raw sewage and industrial waste into the ocean daily, poisoning the waters and impeding the immune systems of all sea life. We destroy the natural habitat of millions of living species so that we can drill for oil to power our gas-guzzling cars and fossil-fuel-hungry industries, despite the fact that both governments and big industry have suppressed numerous viable attempts by other loving, compassionate human beings to introduce more efficient and cleaner forms of fuel. Significant scientific evidence supports the contention that we are accelerating the greenhouse effect with our current forms of farming, industry and lifestyles. One effect of this is the changing weather patterns that disrupt the natural flow of the closed organic cycle or Love Principle even more.

While there are numerous more examples I could give, glancing at any major newspaper will elucidate my point. Because this article is an offering to health and exercise professionals, I would like to now describe how the Love Principle applies to those professional groups, both of which I personally receive a giving from and am hereby regiving in one of the many possible ways we all can.

The Corporatization of Health and Exercise

In our more natural state as hunter-gatherers, and even in the ancient agrarian societies that emerged in the Middle East some 10,000 years ago, we lived in accordance with the Love Principle. Most native societies were very careful not to waste any part of an animal. They ate what was edible and used the rest to manufacture clothing, shelter and equipment, such as fashioning tools from the teeth and bones. Our fecal material was returned to the earth, fulfilling the Love Principle by feeding the microorganisms that in turn accepted our giving and regave to the plant life. The physical movement of our life was woven into the fabric of the Love Principle’s giving and regiving as a natural, holistic expression of movement as seen in all of our developmental predecessors, be they water, air, earth, mineral, plant or animal. Our very movement, or exercise, was part and parcel of the wheel of life!

Within horticultural societies, the planting, farming and harvesting was primarily the task of the women, for it is well known that plant life has an affinity for female energy. Horticulture and hunting, a predominately male activity, existed side by side for some time, never disrupting the natural synergy of the Love Principle. With the advent of the plow, females were generally displaced from agriculture since they were not strong enough to handle the animal-plow combination. At this most important point in the development of humanity, the previously balanced contribution from males and females to the life process began to swing heavily toward patriarchy. This evolution in farming increased food production, which led to the ability to stockpile grains and other foodstuffs. This freed some people from the full-time task of food production and allowed time for specialization in tool making, art, crafts and more. Metallurgy developed, leading to the manufacture of progressively more advanced tools and weaponry. We became more and more specialized with our use of herbs and medicines. Out of the agrarian age came the industrial age, which gave birth to modern science. Modern science was primarily responsible for the progressive dissection of large holistic systems. Our scientific methods were never comprehensive enough to study the entire web of life, and therefore scientists had to confine aspects of living systems in attempt to gain knowledge of their functions. Yet the individual parts are never the sum of the whole! Despite the inherent drawbacks of an isolationist’s approach to science - through the dissection of nature – we gained the ability to harness electricity, to produce fossil fuels, identify the periodic table of elements and understand chemistry, to make plastics and much more.

Each step of the way, life seemed to get easier. By 1900, we had the ability to both destroy our enemy, produce electric motors and mass produce bread and other foodstuffs as well. As we drifted further and further away from the Love Principle, we moved into instant gratification. Some of the many results we now experience are:

  • Using medicines produced from the fractionation of herbs or the dissection and extraction of various elements from plants, insects and animals. For example:

    • Horse urine is used to make estrogen used in female hormone replacement therapies. However, consider that the need for estrogen replacement was almost nonexistent prior to the onset of the industrial and scientific age because women lived the Love Principal - they were in tune with nature - and menopausal distress was relatively unheard of.
    • Antibiotics were developed to kill bacteria, which were suspected to be the cause of many diseases. Yet today, we prescribe more antibiotics than ever and now have problems with resistance to antibiotics, staphylococcus infections in hospitals and the highest rates of chronic disease in recorded history!
    • Hundreds of patents for medical drugs and billions of dollars invested in pharmaceutical companies, yet modern drugs in general do not address the etiology of illness. They typically suppress the symptoms of untold numbers of diseases that were uncommon when we were living in accordance with the Love Principle. Generally, neither the site of the disease nor the symptoms are where the etiology of any disease process is found.

  • Food processing, or the progressive refinement of foods beyond what is absolutely necessary to soften fiber and improve digestion, has resulted in the massive loss of nutrients in our diets. Each step of the processing, life force is detracted from food and in short order what was once a life-giving food becomes a displacement food. By definition, a displacement food is any foodstuff that takes more energy and nutrition to digest, metabolize, assimilate and eliminate than it delivers. With the progressive increase in food processing has come a concomitant increase in the prevalence of chronic diseases.
  • Conglomeration in cities has lead to humanity losing touch with Mother Nature, which has facilitated our willingness to kill Her! For instance, recent investigations have found that many children with attention deficit disorder, anxiety and other such stress responses can make great strides toward healing or normalizing their physiology and psychology simply by spending more time in nature. Children and adults in cities are being bombarded by environmental stimuli such as electromagnetic pollution that our biological systems have never until now had to deal with, while at the same time being deprived of such natural stimulations as:
    • Color stimulation
    • Effective use of near and far vision
    • Environmental pressures to use the body in such a way that our natural internal biological pump systems and energy systems are activated.

Additionally, a tremendous number of today’s children and teens have never even physically seen the very farm animals they eat! Meat is considered to come in packages from a grocery store. With this departure from nature has come an unintentional indifference to the destruction of nature at large. All the while, we are killing our Mother! It is well known that babies who don’t receive adequate physical nurture from their mothers or a human surrogate will not develop optimally and in many instances will die. Why would we expect detachment from Mother Nature should produce a different result, when in fact Mother Nature merely transcends and includes our individual biological “mothers?”
  • Transportation and the mechanization of farming, while helpful at large, has resulted in tremendous problems stemming from sedentary lifestyles. Charles Wharton, a highly respected naturalist, has shown that the average hunter-gatherer society completed their hunting and gathering tasks in approximately three and a half hours a day. Certainly, three and a half hours of activity a day, even at low levels of intensity, is adequate to maintain optimal biological function and stave off any diseases linked to inactivity, not to mention being sufficient to optimize one’s physiology in the way that exercise is known for. Upon completing their daily tasks, parents of children took time to play with them, relieving the elders – grandparents and extended family of this generation - of their duties as educators. The result was a level of psychological stability that now we can only look back upon!

While it is unlikely that the so-called modern advancements of science and society are likely to go away, there is still very much we can learn from the study of holistic systems, which combined exercise, diet and spiritual development as a living philosophy.

Ancient Practices Uniting Spirit and Exercise

As I’ve pointed out above, in most ancient or primitive systems of spiritual development, exercise was either included or was a direct by-product of survival in their given environment. For example, around 3000 B.C. the Aryans began to enter north-west India, bringing with them their practice of yoga. The Aryans believed it was of utmost importance that thought, speech and action be life supporting, or in other words, in harmony with all other levels of the universe. In fact, the very word yoga means yoke or union.

As much as 7000 years ago, Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) emerged as a Chinese philosophical system of harmonious integration of the human body with the universe. Like yoga, Qigong is a system of physical, mental and philosophical training for cultivating moral and body strength, prolonging life and developing human potential. Today, there are millions of Chinese and untold thousands of people from other nations who practice Qigong. It is my personal experience and observation that many of these people have spiritual experiences, experiences that bond them with nature, improve their sense of well being and their capacity to love self and others.

The Chinese also developed a system of gymnastic exercise called Cong Fou. Cong Fou dates back to 2698 B.C.E. and is defined as the art of exercising the body and its application to the treatment of disease. In addition to Qigong and Cong Fou, the Chinese developed Tai Chi, which is often referred to as a soft martial art. Tai Chi is a system of functional exercise because, like the others mentioned here, it seeks to improve the health and vitality of the body and mind, improving man’s relationship with both external and internal nature. Additionally, most of the ancient systems of spiritual development not only included spiritual practices and exercises, they were inclusive of dietary guidelines and advice, including how to use food as medicine in the treatment of various ailments. These were complete “holistic” systems for the development of health and well being.

Anyone subscribing to any one of the above mentioned ancient systems of living for as little as six consecutive months will show one or all of the following signs of health and well being:

  • Improved aesthetics (often looking noticeably younger than their age!)
  • Improved energy levels
  • Improved mental clarity
  • Little if any need for medical drugs
  • Greater sense of autonomy
  • Improved sense of purpose and wanting to belong
  • Greater sense of unity with nature
  • Elimination of disease
  • Increased resistance to disease
  • Greater passion and compassion for life!

These very markers of physical-emotional-mental-spiritual unity can be found among those who practice the integration of religion or spiritual development and exercise. Clearly, as the great philosopher Spinoza stated, “Whatever increases or diminishes, helps or hinders the power of activity in the body, the idea thereof increases or diminishes, helps or hinders the power of thought in our mind.” Plato and Aristotle, who lived long before Spinoza, are recorded to have demanded that their philosophy students exercise regularly and vigorously, for they knew full well that he who is not fit is not fit to think rationally! Modern understanding of human physiology, millennia later, supports their contention in this regard, for the brain, weighing only about 1/25th of our body weight, consumes approximately 80 percent of the available blood sugar whenever cognitively engaged. Anyone who has taken a test in school has had the experience of leaving the study room feeling exhausted from the mental event!

In the USA today, only eight percent of men and three percent of women participate in any regularly scheduled exercise and that 84.8 percent claim to be religious or spiritual. This suggests that the majority of the sick, diseased and obese people lack understanding of the relationship between being healthy as a means of being more holistic and spiritual as a means of achieving higher states of consciousness for the betterment of all! We must begin to see that through the unity of spiritual practice, whole food eating and exercise, we can achieve health and vitality again. Then, with our new view and our new vitality, we will have removed the hindrances to the powers of our mind, allowing us to creatively seek worldwide brotherhood.

The Offering of the Health and Exercise Professional

Are our gyms, physical therapy clinics, osteopathic clinics, chiropractic and medical offices offering and encouraging any form of spiritual practice, whole food eating and appropriately balanced functional exercise as part of a program for developing well being, or are we merely perpetuating a failing application of science and medicine?

Certainly, one may argue that there have been many advances made by science and medicine, as I’ve acknowledged above. Yet, please consider the following short list of “advances:”

  • Synthetic carpet releasing toxic fumes into our homes and workplaces
  • Microwave ovens destroying the cellular make up of our food
  • Spraying some two billion pounds of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and rodenticides a year, despite the fact that crop losses are at an all-time high and food quality and human vitality are at an all time low
  • Open heart surgery to cut out arteriovascular blockages that were relatively unheard of prior to the start of the 20th Century and the onset of modern food processing
  • Having more gyms per capita and yet the most sedentary, obese population in the recorded history of mankind

Is this progress? I certainly don’t think so! We have done the very same thing to exercise that science has done to nature and food processors have done to food. We have broken the body into component parts and created machines to exercise each part. Our gyms and medical centers of all types by and large peddle every sort of isolate you could imagine and then some! We have surgeons and rehabilitation professionals worldwide isolating the spot that hurts only to cut it out, inject it with a numbing agent or anti-inflammatory agent or manipulation the sensory motor system through the application of electrical stimulation or other topical analgesics. Yet, how often are we addressing the etiology?

Is it a mystery that women suffering PMS commonly display sizable and at times unmanageable mood swings, low back pain and neck pain? Is it a mystery that we have the highest incidence of orthopedic injury among high school and college athletes (of both sexes), despite the fact of the so-called advanced exercise technologies available at every major school system in industrialized nations today? Why is it then that even among our athletic population, including bodybuilders, we have unprecedented psychological disorders, concomitant with rampant medical drug use? Is this our evolution? Does this in any way, shape or form resemble the very Love Principle from which we were spawned?

My personal opinion is that we, the exercise professionals, the acupuncturists, the physios, chiros, the osteos… indeed, the very professionals who once stood for identification of and addressing of the etiology of a patient’s pain and discomfort, must begin to practice what we once stood for!

We have all been given a grand opportunity to do what we love to do and to regive. The first thing we can do is practice what we preach! Our clients and patients need the gift of observational leadership - leadership not by academic rote but by example. You can’t give to another what you yourself do not have. It simply doesn’t work, and the proof is all around you, in the magazines, on the news, literally everywhere. We must give the gift of health and well being to ourselves first, which means following the foundation principles of health and well being. But are we? Is the average exercise or healthcare professional healthier to any significant degree than the very people they work with?

We must give ourselves health through the very means our ancestors did, as clearly outlined in Weston A. Price's book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. For clearly, our fad diets have failed, as have our amazing isolates! Only when we are overflowing with health and vitality ourselves can we outflow that love, that quality of existence to others. We must be like a tree so full of fruit that it literally bows to the earth, dropping its fruit out of the burden of its fullness.

When we take the initiative to remove the garbage (equipment and so-called foods and supplements!) from our gyms and healthcare centers as an act of leadership and as a natural outgrowth of our own well being, when we bow to our clients and patients to share the fruits of our own healthy lifestyle, we will bring forth the union of a real yogi, we will have the abundance of chi afforded to the committed Qigong or Tai Chi practitioner. When this occurs in your own life, you will not need to schedule appointments with your clients so they can pick the abundant fruits of your well being. Your well being will radiate to everyone around you.

Your health and vitality, your well being and mine IS our potential regiving. I can only speak for myself in saying that this is the future I dream for and work toward each and every day.

What is your dream? What are you working for? What is your regiving? What are you creating with your thoughts, words and deeds as you see your clients and patients each day? Is your spiritual practice one bent around survival, or is it an expression of your love?

It is my dream that we all live the Love Principle together, for surely that is what all the great spiritual masters have taught us to do. Surely that was their dream for humanity.

May we all dream together. May we all focus our thoughts, words and deeds on what we want as our future, not what we don’t want.

" The Inner Game Of Health And Fitness" Part 1

"The Inner Game Of Health And Fitness" Part 1

"There is an Inner Game to Everything said W. Timothy Gallwey. He should know, Gallwey has written several books on " Inner Game" playing. The most popular are The Inner game of Tennis, The Inner Game of Golf, and The Inner game of Skiing. My personal favorite is the one he co-authored with Bary Green, The Inner Game Of Music.

There's an inner game of Your self- Image when it comes to your Health And Fitness too, and it plays a major role in developing Your Wellness Vision. Let me prove it to you by applying the Inner Game principles to Health and Fitness.

Self One: The Belittler

When you've decided and attempted to approach a weight-loss program, diet, or tried to incorporate healthier lifestyle changes in the past and discovered a little voice in your head judging your plan? You might hear it right now. It's the voice that tells you your plan is good or lousy (usually the latter). You may be used to this well-intended unseen companion that you don't know he's there in your head. But he's there, Believe me. And it's the inner Belittler called self one in The Inner Game that stops you from exercise, eating, and living fully to enjoy your recreational hobbies, sports, and fitness, etc. Your health and fitness should be approached with ease, flow, and add value and purpose to your life. Don't let self one the not so good buddy prevent you from exploring whats possible for you. The better you is there you just need to discover it my friend. Go for it take the leap and move towards the better you when it comes to your physical, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional self. Do that which you were born to be and live with joy!

We will explore Self Two: The Master in this two part series of "The Inner Game of Health And Fitness" Bye for now and keep those thoughts Focused on all that you are becoming that is good.

"10Reasons To Hire A Certified Personal Fitness Trainer & Nutrition Expert!"

"I don't believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing."

- Ronald Reagan, 40th U.S. president

"10Reasons To Hire A Certified Personal Fitness Trainer & Nutrition Expert!"

1. Motivation
Personal Trainers & Nutritionists wear many hats, serving not only as coach, but also as an educator, confidant role model and a major source of motivation and encouragement.
2. Consistency
Do you find it difficult to stick to your program? Scheduling regular appoinments with a personal trainer & Nutritionist helps eliminate any excuse you may come up with for not exercising or journaling your food intake.
3. Safety
Are you unsure about how to use the chest press machine at the gym, or how to perform walking lunges without hurting your knees? A personal trainer will show you how to exercise safely (including which exercises to avoid), and instruct you on the proper and safe use of exercise equipment.
4. Individualized Instruction
An exercise & nutrition program that works for one person may not work for another. A personal trainer & nutritionist will develop the most effective program for you based on your fitness evaluation results, Lifestyle Analysis, and personal goals.
5. Effective Workouts
Today's hectic lifestyles mean you don't have to waste on ineffective exercise routines. Personal trainers help maximize your time by providing workouts designed to meet your goals quickly and efficiently.

" Why You Should Use My Fat-Loss For Idiots Guide To Achieve Maximum Results!" Part 2

" Why You Should Use My Fat-Loss For Idiots Guide To Achieve Maximum Results!" Part 2

Part 2 Continued...

For example:
If you begin eating 2,500 calories per day then your metabolism will adjust itself so that your body begins burning 2,500 calories per day.

If you try to starve yourself by suddenly eating 1,000 calories per day then your metabolism will again ADJUST ITSELF so that your body begins to burn only 1,000 calories per day. That's why you have failed in your past dieting attempts, that's why you always seem to fail when you try and starve yourself.

Now you know the reason why you can eat 1,000 calories per day and not lose any weight while your friends can eat 2,500 calories per day and not gain any weight.

Also, virtually every person in today's society is buying mostly "low fat" or "non fat" food at the grocery store, everybody is conscious of the "fat grams" inside the food they buy. However, people are getting fatter than ever by doing this and people are not losing weight by switching to the "low fat lifestyle".

Low carb diets have certainly become popular in recent years, but such diets often leave you feeling miserable each day (since they drain most of your energy and can leave you feeling quite awful each day).

Check out these facts below...

Did you know that several popular low carb diets are so strict that you cannot even eat a large apple during the first couple weeks? It's true.

Also, many low carb diets won't even let you enjoy a 'normal' restaurant meal (ordered without any carb restrictions) for many months after you begin.

Therefore, low carb diets can leave you feeling MISERABLE each day, which is not the answer.

What if we could show you a system of eating which was so different from anything else you've ever seen, that you'll notice a change in your body in just 11 Days from Today?

Forget about your past dieting failures for a moment.

Just focus on one thought right now..........WHAT IF it was really possible to change your body in 11 days?

Believe it or not it's really possible to change your body over the NEXT 11 DAYS, and it has NOTHING to do with positive thinking.......because positive thinking all by itself won't remove a single pound from your body.

That's right.....if you want to get NOTICEABLY THINNER IN THE MIRROR then you need MUCH MORE than just "positive thinking".

Okay.........get ready to be shown an Eating System which is so unique that you're going to be anxious to begin immediately.

FOOD is NOT the Enemy

Did you know that your brain controls the release of Fat Burning Hormones after each meal? It's true.

Every time you eat something there are 2 types of hormones released into your bloodstream, and together they control Fat Burning and Fat Storage.

Also, did you know that these 2 hormones are controlled by the foods that you eat? It's true.

Our Diet Manipulates Fat Burning HORMONES

Our diet manipulates these hormones.........so after each meal your body will produce a greater quantity of Fat Burning Hormones...........while Fat Storing Hormones are MINIMIZED as much as humanly possible.

That's why you'll be eating MORE THAN 3 TIMES PER DAY during the next 11 Days, because to alter these hormones correctly you'll be required to eat MORE than 3 times per day.

You probably find it hard to believe that eating more than 3 times per day could be the solution to speeding up weight loss, right? We will continue this series in part 3 and for now let this information sink deep within. Bye for Now! Stay Healthy!

"5 Foods You Should Never Eat Revealed!"

"How To Avoid Dangers of Dairy!"

Countless scientists and charities as well as government agencies spend hundreds of hours a week analyzing cancer research, and now dairy products have come under the microscope. The latest research from the United States reveals that the hormones cows secrete into milk are suppressing genes that usually detect and kill cancer cells as they develop and increasing the receptors on cells that promote cancerous mutations.

The aim of this article is to bring the proven research to your attention and describe in better detail the mechanism of how dairy actually alters your own genetic cellular makeup, thereby allowing cancerous cells to develop. I will also discuss the reversibility of this epigenetic mutation by eliminating dairy consumption and increasing intake of certain other nutrients that protect these cells.

Hormones in Cow’s Milk

Grosvenor et al describes that a cow secretes hormones into its milk to allow the young underdeveloped calf to grow. The same hormone and substance content can be found in human breast milk. If you know your anatomy and physiology, a human infant or young calf has a poorly developed endocrine (hormonal) system. Thus, it would only be wise for nature to elect one parent to carry a mechanism to transport not only nutrients but hormones to their young. However, for us humans, most products we consume orally eventually enter our bloodstream via the stomach or the intestines. So if cows naturally secrete hormones into their milk, we are practically ingesting animal hormones straight into our bodies. Knowing this, it should be easy to understand that current dairy products are harmful. It is easy to draw parallels to the damage caused by injecting or orally administering the use of anabolic steroids. Essentially with dairy products, you are orally ingesting ANIMAL hormones into your bloodstream, hormones composed of mainly estrogen as well. Once in the blood stream (as these hormones survive digestion in the stomach), they then have access to the whole human body and combine at certain receptor sites, where they exhibit their effects.

To appreciate the real damage milk and related products such as cheese and those ever-more-popular whey protein shakes can do, let’s analyze the contents of cow’s milk. The following are some of the compounds found naturally in cow’s milk:

* Estrogens (Female Hormones)
* Androgens (Male Hormones)
* IGF-1 (Insulin like growth factor-1)
* Prolactins
* Leptins
* Epidermal and transforming growth factors

Of all these ingredients, it’s the IGF-1 that appears to be the main culprit for increasing the development of cancerous tumours. The full mechanism can be read in Dr. Bibb’s book, “Deadly Dairy Deception,” but essentially, IGF-1 exerts a powerful effect on the p53 gene at the receptor known as IGF-R1 (type 1 insulin growth factor receptor). At this receptor, a number of cellular responses occur, including proliferation and the protection of cells from programmed cell death (apoptosis). This results in the effect seen in Figure 1 below, where cells with a mutation inside divide uncontrollably as apoptosis of abnormal cells is suppressed.

Figure 1 - Abnormal apoptosis,
causing a cancerous colony to develop

The turning off of a gene is better known as hypermethylation or epigenetic mutation. This epigenetic mutation has been proven in the laboratory to be “heritable” and thus passed onto your children. This is due to the hypermethylated cells leaving “molecular footprints” that can be used as markers for constructing new cells of this nature, which means your children probably aren’t safe from your current dairy intake either. One study has shown that prenatal nutritional and metabolic events are memorized or “imprinted” by the developing organism that may result in the development of diseases in adult life.

In healthy cell division, the p53 gene should cause natural cell death in either aged or defective cells as illustrated in Figure 2 below.

Figure 2 - Natural cell death or apoptosis,
where an abnormal cell is programmed to die

It isn’t just the IGF-1 molecules that are dangerous in milk and similar products. It is also the estrogens that are consumed. The full mechanism of the estrogen in prostate cancer and hormone-sensitive breast cancer is also complex and can be further understood in Bibb’s aforementioned book. Essentially, these estrogens bind to cells via estrogen receptor alpha and over stimulate the development of cancerous cells. This enhances the effect of IGF-1, which suppresses the p53 gene and which would normally perform apoptosis and program these cells for elimination. In effect, what you have is one protein hormone (IGF-1) that suppresses your cell defence and another steroid hormone (estrogens) that simultaneously stimulates cancerous mutations. Together, you have a very dangerous cocktail. That’s how cells seen in Figure A develop so easily, especially as these compounds are hormones. Being a hormone, it exerts powerful effects on its receptor cell. Thus, estrogens and IGF-1 work very well together at producing the exact same effect but via different receptors, making them excellent accomplices in this cancer debacle. This means children and adults are consuming a dangerous concoction of hormones and protein hormones in staple foods such as macaroni and cheese, milkshakes, yoghurt, pizza, protein bars, protein shakes and cheese burgers. A full list of foods to avoid can be found below:

* All Milk: Skimmed, non fat, 2%, half & half, evaporated, etc
* All Cheeses: Cottage, vegetarian, organic, light, cream cheese, etc
* Milk Protein Concentrates: Whey protein, whey protein isolates, casein
* All Cream: Light and heavy whipped, sour cream, etc
* All Caseins: Hydrolysates, calcium caseinate, magnesium, caseinate, etc
* Milk Powders: Whole, non-fat milk
* All Ice Cream
* All Yoghurts

Hormones and the Cancer Link

Cancer is a group of cells that have been modified so that they do not die! According to Bibb, if a gene that causes a cell to die becomes defective or conversely, a gene that keeps a cell from dying becomes defective, then a cell can become “immortal” and pass this gift onto its daughter cells when it divides. This gift is then passed on down the generations of cell division, and soon you will have developed a group of cells that do not die. This is what is known as a cancer. This is how it is with prostrate cancer, for example. The p53 gene causes cells to die and has been found to be defective in prostrate and in many other cancers. In the lab, prostate and estrogen receptor positive breast cancer tissue behave similarly. Therefore, it is likely that what is said about one is true of another.

It is through this combined effect that a tumour develops as the cells divide and reproduce defectively, which is why all cancers get worse or grow over time. These cancer cells are going through natural cell division (mitosis) and passing on their cancerous information onto future daughter cells. The prostate gland, as with other glands, is stimulated by many types of hormones and proteins. These hormones and proteins produce their effect by attaching to the numerous receptors that have thus far been identified. It is these receptors that play an important role in determining the health of a gland and whether the individual will develop cancer from abnormal stimulation of these receptors.

Is Dairy Ever Safe?

If the dairy is treated like it was in the late 1920s when milk was first introduced, it would then be safe for consumption. A brief history lesson tells us that vitamin D is not a natural ingredient of milk. In the early 1900s, Ricketts was a disease of epidemic proportion due to a diet lacking in vitamin D. This discovery was made by one very clever biochemist, Dr Harry Steenbock at the University of Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Steenbock exposed cow’s milk to ultra violet light and found that a compound called “ergosterol” would immediately convert to vitamin D upon exposure to certain wave lengths of UV light. Steenbock even won a patent for his work at curing Rickets by his process of UV exposure to milk in its manufacturing process. According to Bibb, Steenbock also inadvertently helped prevent people of his time from developing prostate and breast cancer in a way he can never appreciate. We now know his method also denatures the dangerous IGF-1 molecule and the estrogens by breaking down the disulphide bonds that keep IGF-1 active and that bind to estrogens in the milk. This process of ultra violet light exposure was used until the mid 1940s, where it became more economical to synthetically manufacture vitamin D and add it to the milk later.

An Increase of Prostate and Breast Cancer

Discussed earlier was the concept of epigenetic mutation, which is the “heritable” capacity of turning your genes off by leaving molecular footprints in your DNA. Thus, only now are we experiencing the unfortunate side effects of the evolution of the dairy foods process. This means the children from the 1940s are more prone to prostate and breast cancer as their gene protection systems are becoming weaker and weaker with time. This is due to each generation exposing themselves to IGF-1 and estrogens, except each parent weakens their p53 gene number, leaving their children with less unharmed p53 genes and so on, until now we really start to notice when we receive reports of teenagers with breast cancer and young men with prostate cancer. Until milk is treated again with UV light, we are going to continue to see young females looking like adult women and younger ages of people with prostate and breast cancer. The signs are all around us. Who else can explain why Western school girls are so more mature for their age compared to Asian, Japanese or other Eastern societies that do not consume large amounts of dairy? Scientists have noticed these trends by looking at dietary practices from 1986 to the present day, specifically noting the relationship between increased dairy consumption and increased risk of prostate cancer. This trend is even more evident in the black community.

The Role of Race in Prostate Cancer Incidence

The incidence of prostate cancer has been found to be significantly higher in black men than white men in certain regions of the world including the United States, the United Kingdom and in the African Caribbean (see Figure 3 below).

Figure 3 - Prostate cancer incidence 1975-1994 for
black men vs white men. Top line represents black men.

The reasons why black men are more prone to prostate cancer are researched and available, but the largest reason is the fact that they are born with higher levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA). This antigen is responsible for releasing more free IGF-1 into the body as it digests a binding protein called “IGF-1 binding protein-3.” To make matters worse, Tricoli et al and Winter et al concluded studies that found black men with age matched controls have lower levels of IGF-1 binding protein-3, which means they have a natural ability to free IGF-1 than white men, but they already have more IGF-1 circulating as well! Therefore, black men (and women) really do not need dairy products to increase their IGF-1 levels any further, as this can increase their incidence of cancer considerably. The table below details the massive change in prostate cancer incidence in black men in the US versus black men from Africa:

U.S.
(State)

Prostate Cancer
Incidence

Country

Prostate Cancer
Incidence

Florida

224.8*

Gambia

4.7

New York

246.5

Mali, Bamako

7.6
*per 100,000

From the research data, a trend toward higher incidences of prostate cancer in colder climates versus warmer climates in black men was also noted. This can largely be attributed to the vitamin D effect discussed earlier, which naturally occurs in skin exposed to UV light. In the same study, the authors concluded that dietary supplementation of vitamin D could reduce the risk of prostate and several other types of cancers they researched (the daily dose would be a range of 1200-2000 iu per day).

Alternatives to Dairy

Now that you have a greater understanding of the dangers of dairy, it is time to discuss what alternatives can be used instead to lower your risk of prostate and breast cancer. Listed below are some alternatives to milk from a protein as well as calcium perspective:

Bee Pollen Granules
Nutritional Benefits: Bee pollen contains around 50 percent protein, much of which is in the form of free amino acids. It is also high in the B complex vitamins and enzymes.

Unflavored Gelatin
Nutritional Benefits: Gelatin (Gelatine) is made from the collagen protein found in bone, skin and cartilage. When beef or pork are boiled, the collagen is extracted and changes into gelatin. Our gelatin is an excellent source of protein containing over 85 percent protein. Typical usage is four teaspoons per day. Gelatin may be mixed in non carbonated juices or with foods.

Brown Rice/Rice Protein
Nutritional Benefits: Brown Rice/Rice Protein contains 80 percent protein. Rice Protein Concentrate is made from Non GMO Sprouted Brown Rice Grains. The amino acid profile is approximately 98 percent similar to mother's milk. A vegan hypo-allergenic natural grain protein concentrate, brown rice/rice protein has a strong flavor profile as some of the protein is in free amino acids.

Organic Hemp Protein Powder
Nutritional Benefits: An organic food with 37 percent protein, 10 percent beneficial fats, 43 percent fiber (90% soluble, 10% insoluble), chlorophyll, magnesium, zinc and iron. Hempseed is one of nature's most perfect superfoods. One serving provides 11 grams of raw organic protein and a whopping 14 grams of fiber (54% of the RDI). Hemp contains all eight essential amino acids with the bonus of essential fatty acids.

Organic Blue-Green Algae Powder
Nutritional Benefits: This rare superfood is a protein powerhouse. It provides a highly bioavailable protein that is 80 percent assimilated in our bodies (compared to meat protein, which is 20% assimilated), and its amino acid profile is optimal for humans. Klamath Lake algae is also the world's most concentrated source of chlorophyll, a valuable phytonutrient considered by many to be one of nature's most cleansing and regenerating substances.

SciVation Xtend
Nutritional Benefits: Xtend is a precise, scientific blend of Energy Aminos consisting of the proven 2:1:1 ratio of Branched Chain Amino Acids (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine), Glutamine, Citrulline Malate, and Vitamin B6 that will give you the energy you need to maximize your training while enhancing recovery at the same time.

Egg Protein, Egg White and Egg Protein Powder
Nutritional Benefits: Egg protein is commonly referred to as the "perfect protein," and it is the common reference to which other proteins are compared. Two values are commonly used to evaluate protein quality: protein digestibility corrected amino acid score (PDCAA) and biological value (BV). BV measures the amount of protein retained from the absorbed protein. Egg protein scores 100 percent on the BV, meaning all protein ingested from the egg is used by the body. Egg protein contains all eight essential amino acids required by the body.

The biggest opposing factor I have seen when approaching people about this life saving issue is not that they don’t believe me or the research, it’s that they are extremely habitual dairy users. People like the taste of dairy in their diets and have a well established habit of dairy consumption. The best we can do to combat resistance is offer strong, healthy alternatives to dairy right off the bat. Educate your clients on the pasteurization process used on milk, which is an archaic method to prevent harmful bacteria entering our bodies. As pasteurization involves subjecting milk to high temperatures of heat treatment, this also kills good bacteria (as heat is a non selective procedure) and denatures much of the protein contained in the product. Also, as we age, we lose the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase, which allows us to process lactose. This is why many people have stomach bloating or uncomfortable reactions to dairy products or products containing dairy. These are just a few of the effective arguments you can present to your clients when educating them on the dangers of some dairy products and suggesting they find alternative sources of protein.
